We had three baby chicks hatch over the weekend. They have been such a welcome and calming addition to our classroom. You can see that we are taking turns reading to our chicks during D.E.A.R. time. How sweet is that?

Over the month of January, we have been reading about Martin Luther King Jr., Ruby Bridges and Rosa Parks. We have had some awesome discussions and done some writing pieces about these people. On Friday, after reading about Ruby Bridges, I showed a real picture of Ruby with her first grade classmates. It was a beautiful shot of four children out on the playground having fun. A student raised her hand and asked "Which one is Ruby?". How perfect is that?
